Javier & Stephanie Calva opened Javi’s Mexican Grill & Tavern in September 2022, transforming this location into one of the most welcoming places to eat in Cleveland, GA! With warm service and authentic Mexican cuisine, they’ve created an award-winning local favorite among Restaurants in Cleveland, GA.

Though new to ownership in 2022, they were far from new to the industry. Javier, originally from Puebla, Mexico, has worked at La Cabana in Helen, GA since 2006 and continues to serve as GM there. Stephanie moved from Germany to Cleveland in 2006. The two met while working at a Cleveland restaurant in this very building in 2012 and fell in love.

Living out the American dream, Javier and Stephanie poured their hearts into their restaurant and giving back to the community they call home. Javi’s was voted People’s Choice Best Mexican three years in a row—2024, 2025 & 2026—and, most honorably, named 2026 White County Business of the Year, recognizing a commitment that goes well beyond great food.

Javi’s keeps growing! Coming Fall 2026, guests can enjoy outdoor seating in Cleveland, GA, with dogs welcome. From family dinners and group celebrations to dinner on the patio with your pup, Javi’s is a welcoming place to enjoy Mexican food in Cleveland, GA.

We done at Javi’s very regularly either in person or delivery. The food is always excellent and fast. The delivery always arrives hot and ahead of the projected time. The in person experience is friendly and pleasant and comes with great margaritas.

What a great find in Cleveland! Georgia. We drove down from Helen, Unicoi looking for good Mexican...we found great authentic Mexican food and a friendly, efficient staff! I wish I could give more than 5 stars. The food was good, the service was good, and the atmosphere was amazing. There was a live mariachi band playing, they said the band is there on Friday nights. The band was very good and it really kicked it up a notch. The food and service were both good enough to make us come back anyways but the atmosphere really kicked it up a notch!!
